四半世紀ー。
1996年、バブル経済が崩壊して間もない社会状況の中、メディコム・トイは東京都渋谷区で産声を上げました。
この25年間、世界中のエンターテイメントの垣根はドラスティックに取り払われていきました。
インターネットの爆発的な普及とそこに並列するアーカイヴは膨大で、アニメ・マンガ、アート、音楽、ファッションなど、ハイカルチャーからユースカルチャーまで、あらゆるコンテンツが相対化され、解体されていく時代でした。
振り返ると、メディコム・トイは「トイ」を媒体とし、ときにラジカルに、ときに直観的に、様々なカルチャーを融合・再構築していく役割の一端を担ってきたのではないかと思います。
そうして作り上げた新たな形のエンターテイメントカルチャーと、そして“自分たちがほしいものをつくる” という変わらぬ信念とともに、私たちは次なる時代を目指します。
ぜひとも会場にて、メディコム・トイの歴史と集大成を回顧していただき、新作アイテムではグローバルなエンターテイメントをお楽しみください。

Quarter century
In 1996, MEDICOM TOY was born in Tokyo Shibuya shortly after the collapse of the bubble economy. Over the last 25 years, entertainment barriers around the world have been drastically removed.
The explosive growth of the Internet and the archives parallel to it were enormous, and it was an era in which all content from high culture to youth culture, such as anime/manga, art, music, and fashion, was relativized and dismantled.
Looking back, MEDICOM TOY has played a role in the merging and reconstruction of various cultures, sometimes radically and sometimes intuitively, using “toys” as a medium.
